Application of Solar Collectors

It is already possible in Latvia to use solar collectors for heating, fully supplying the house with heat and hot water, using direct and accumulated solar energy for this purpose.

This type of heating is called the "Solar Heat Pump System" or "Solar Pump" and consists of two essential parts - a heat pump with large heat exchangers and flat vacuum solar collectors.

Depending on the type of heating in the building, there are several solutions for creating solar systems to support heating. However, the fact remains that in Latvian conditions not less than 10 square meters of solar collector surface is required for the accumulated solar radiation to be used for heating purposes at all. The rest, of course, depends on the area of heated rooms and other parameters related to the installation of heating.

The most common type of water heating is the most popular application of solar collectors. In fact, it was for this purpose that solar systems were once created. Namely, to accumulate solar energy and convert it into heat energy, which is used to heat more or less water.

As hot water is needed all year round, not only in households, but also in institutions and businesses, it is perfectly logical and understandable to want to save by using free, unpaid solar radiation.

Solar collectors are installed on the roofs on the south side or located elsewhere in the territory of the swimming pool owner. The required number of collectors depends on the size of the pool and the specifics of use. The collectors are connected in a closed circuit to a specially designed chlorine-resistant pool heat exchanger. The closed circuit is filled with non-toxic and non-freezing glycol liquid SolarEko, which also has anti-corrosion properties. When the sun's radiation reaches the absorbing surface through the solar glass, heat is generated.
